In the Office

Robert founded DesignHammer with partners David Minton and Frank Yonetti in 2001. Robert was instrumental in creating the DesignHammer name and led the development efforts at the company for years. Today, he spends a lot of his time managing DesignHammer’s servers and assisting with the development and maintenance of sites.

Professional Background

Entering the workforce at age 13, Robert worked his summers at construction sites carrying heavy things. From this experience, he learned the value of pursuing what you love, and has been doing so ever since.

After years of working as a professional woodworker, Robert decided to pursue design and typography at Pratt Institute. Grateful he wasn’t swayed by a professor that hated the, then new, world wide web, he went on to have a very successful web design and programming shop in SoHo.

Later, while working as Senior Web Developer at NetworkArts in North Carolina he met his future partners, David Minton and Frank Yonnetti. Together they started DesignHammer in 2001.

Out of the Office

Robert is not the sort of person who is swayed by what others think and just likes what he likes. For example, he may be the only person in Durham who isn’t into craft beers. Robert plays the guitar regularly. He also builds custom guitars, hand-wired guitar amplifiers, and is learning electronics. He has obtained a MIG Welding Certificate and is considering taking courses for an oxy-acetylene welding certificate.

By now, you have probably heard about the serious OpenSSL vulnerability, Heartbleed. As of today, we don't have any information that any user data on DesignHammer's servers was compromised. That said, as a precaution we strongly urge users of DesignHammer's sites to reset their site login passwords using a strong password.

Robert's Projects

The James G. Martin Center's outdated website was built on a custom CMS that was difficult to use. DesignHammer migrated the Center's content to a WordPress website with an improved design, better mobile support, and more flexibility.

Needing constant access to their content while representing the exclusive team look, DesignHammer created a modern sports design and custom content management system (CMS) for the Durham Bulls.
